Kupferstich, H. 26, 6 x B. 19, 5 cm; beschnitten, auf der untersten Stufe signiert und datiert: Jacobus Valeggius Veronesis. f. 1574. Basisinschrift: Limina conscendens ultro petit ardua templi. Ipse eadem templum virgo futura Dei. Stecher: Giacomo Valegio (tätig in Verona 1548-87).

Maria, nur von ihrer Mutter Anna begleitet, eilt dem Hohepriester entgegen, der sie auf den Tempelstufen mit offenen Armen empfängt. Hinter ihm steht die Männergruppe des Tempelpersonals, wobei sich nach einem Dürer-Motiv einer die Säule umarmend nach vorne beugt, um den Empfang Mariens als Tempeljungfrau genau beobachten zu können. Als Repoussoirfigur sitzt links auf einem Steinblock ein bärtiger Alter mit bloßem Oberkörper.
